2018 ISSA GAMES: St. Robert’s, Hua Siong top secondary boys’ cage tilt

ST. ROBERT’S International Academy (SRIA) Panda Rockets and Hua Siong College of Iloilo (HSCI) Red Phoenix are the kings of secondary basketball in the ongoing 2018 Iloilo Schools Sports Association (ISSA) games hosted by Ateneo de Iloilo (AdI).

On Sept 25, John Guanco’s Panda Rockets captured their second victory after whipping Sun Yat Sen High School (SYSHS), 83-69.

The team was led by Dexter Hans Gange and Roy Oscar Jacinto who chipped in 18 and 17 markers, respectively.

With two victories in their name, SRIA currently tops Group A along with defending champ Hua Siong.

In tertiary men’s basketball, Western Institute and Technology (WIT) survived a tough University of San Agustin (USA) 99-98, courtesy of Zaldy Patizar’s game-winning shot in the dying seconds of the last frame.

Jetly Dolientes erupted with 22 points while Marvin Cuerbo contributed 18 baskets for WIT record. San Agustin dropped with a 1-1 slate.

WIT now has two wins after another down to the wire game against Iloilo Doctor’s College (IDC), 92-91.

Defending champions John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (JBLFMU) also tasted its first victory against the battered IDC, 72-66.
