NOT true.
The Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division declared that it has not red-tagged any school in its area of responsibility.
In a press statement, the 3ID leadership slammed the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) in Central and Western Visayas for the latter’s alleged “deceptive tactic to recruit students of different schools to act as fighters and cadres.”
The recruitment is allegedly done through legal front organizations and schools groups.
However, it declined to name these institutions where the alleged recruitment or being used as a platform for recruitment.
However, “wanted to inform the school administrators, students and parents soonest as possible to prevent the students from joining the terrorist group,” said Captain Eduardo Precioso Jr., 3ID spokesman.
“What we are trying to do now is to communicate with the school administrators to explain to them the deceptive way of the CPP-NPA-Terrorist group and how to prevent this kind of situation to protect the students,” Precioso added.
MANDATORY ROTC
Since the time of the Citizen Army Training and when the Reserve Officers’ Training Course (ROTC) became optional and was replaced by the National Service Training Program (NSTP), students became vulnerable targets of the CPP-NPA terrorist, Precioso said.
“This deception never stops and the students become easy prey of this terrorist organization. We have to push through the implementation of mandatory ROTC before our youth will continuously fall victim of recruitment,” he added urging students to be critical in joining organizations that are affiliated to terror groups.
Precioso pointed out that that the schools have the obligation to protect their students from any unlawful actions or events made by unlawful person or people particularly the CPP-NPA terrorist group.
