ROBBERS continue to make a killing in the 5th district of Iloilo by preying on schools.

In just a week, three burglaries happened in Northern Iloilo, police reports indicate.

The two latest heists hit Ajuy National High School (ANHS) and Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College (NIPSC) campus in Ajuy, Iloilo on August 7, 2018.

Officials of ANHS located at Barangay San Antonio, Ajuy reported losing Php50,000 cash to still unidentified robbers.

A utility worker reported the incident to the barangay officials after he noticed that the padlock of the main door to the cashier’s office was forcibly opened.

Chief Inspector Aron Animas of Ajuy police said the robbers then dismantled the vault where the cash was kept.

Police believe that the heist happened past 12 a.m. Monday after the school’s security guard left his post.

On the other hand, NIPSC-Ajuy campus lost more or less Php4,000 cash in another burglary that happened past 2 a.m. Monday.

Two security guards stationed 30 meters from the administration building claimed they heard loud banging in the building.

One of them checked the building but he later settled with the idea that the winds and heavy rains may have caused the sound.

The robbers ransacked the offices of the school registrar, accountant, and cashier.

Animas said the robbers failed to open the vault containing Php60,000 cash.

This is the second time that a NIPSC campus was ransacked and the third incident in the 5th district.

On July 30, 2018, robbers also ransacked the NIPSC-Batad campus and carted away Php80,000 cash.

Police believe that the same set of suspects could be behind the three burglaries.
