The Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) has activated its Incident Management Team (IMT) starting October 31 until Nov. 4 to ensure that no major incidents will happen in the metropolis during the All Saints Day and All Souls Day celebration on Nov. 1 and 2, respectively.

“For the Undas activity, we have prepared incident action plan wherein it has three objectives: to ensure the safety of the public and responders, ensure a timely and efficient response during emergency cases, and to have zero major incidents for the duration of Undas,” said Darwin Papa, CDRRMO operations officer.

Papa said five teams will be deployed in various areas including Jaro Plaza area, Taft North Barangay Hall, La Paz Plaza, Molo Plaza and vicinity of CDRRMO operations center from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Each team will have one ambulance and three responders.

“In case of emergency, what the public can do is to go to the nearest Police Assistance Desks (PADs) and the PADS will be the one to contact us for response,” said Papa.

Two more quick response vehicles will also augment the five teams.

Among the most common incidents during the two-day event are fainting, minor injuries and burns, minor accidents, and some major vehicular incidence.

“Before going to cemeteries, ensure first the safety of yourself. Please do not leave your house on an empty stomach, wear comfortable clothes, bring umbrella to protect you from the heat of sun. Also, ensure that you have shut down the electricity in your house to avoid fire, and take care of your personal belongings while travelling,” Papa said.

Meanwhile, Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III visited the cemeteries and selling areas of flowers to check on their concerns, as well as the deployment of police auxiliaries and policemen around the metropolis.

Espinosa visited Tanza cemetery, Molo cemetery, Mandurriao cemetery, and Jaro Plaza.
