City aims for a peaceful and orderly Undas 2018

MAYOR Jose Espinosa III led the inspection in Iloilo City’s major cemeteries to ensure peaceful and orderly All Souls’ and All Saints’ Days on Nov 1-2, 2018.
“Gusto ko gid mag-ocular inspection kay gusto ta gid makita ang preparasyon sang naga kalain lain nga departments. I will be monitoring ang tanan na mga sitwasyon para siguraduhon nga we will celebrate this fiesta minatay peaceful and orderly,” said Espinosa while inspecting public cemeteries in Tanza, Molo, and Mandurriao.
Espinosa said that deadly weapons, alcoholic drinks, and loud music are barred in cemeteries.
“There will be police visibility kay indi ta gusto mga untoward incidents sa pag-celebrate sang pista minatay. Sa aton nga mga kapulisan, be vigilant ang approach but with maximum tolerance,” he stated.
He also added that he already directed flower and candle vendors to avoid exorbitant pricing.
“Nag-ayo kita nga hindi pagpatam-an ang mga manugbakal kag ginapabantayan ta man sa mga aton departments nga hindi gid pagpasobrahan ang pumuluyo sa bili sang bulak kag kandila,” Espinosa said.
Moreover, the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) and the Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) will also be ensuring orderly flow of traffic and clean areas for candle and flower vendors in the city, Espinosa said.
PSTMO Head Jeck Conlu said that they are targeting zero crime incidents, road incidents, and apprehensions for the Undas.
He added that 300 personnel have been deployed to manage the traffic and maintain the peace and order in the cemeteries.
“May ara kita sweeping team so ang tanan nga kalsada pakadto sa aton nga mga patyo hawanan ini kag tanan nga naga-obstruct sa roads paga-kuhaon kag magabutang kitasignage for rerouting,” he explained.
Aside from this, the PSTMO in cooperation with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Land Transportation Office (LTO) are also conducting inspections.
“May ara kita 22 cemeteries public and private pero sa public cemeteries kita ga-focus kay dira mas damo gakakadto. We will also be conducting inspections on ports and terminals,” he noted.
Meanwhile, the mayor advised the public to practice precautionary measures to avoid robbery and fire incidents happening during Undas.
“Advise naton kun maglakat ang mga pumuluyo sa patyo see to it nga ang balay nila properly locked ukon may gabantay kay usually amo gid na ang pagkadto sang mga akyat-bahay kay wala tawo ang balay. Ang ikaduha ang mga kandila kag mga electric appliances i-off gid para wala ta problema nga sunog sa aton barangay,” Espinosa stated.
