President Rodrigo Duterte’s former aide assured that the construction of a bridge connecting Iloilo to Guimaras will be pursued.

“Nasa working process na po sya ngayon,” Christopher “Bong” Go said in a media interview on Nov. 4.

The Iloilo-Guimaras bridge is part of the proposed  Panay-Guimaras-Negros Bridge network, which is estimated to cost about P42 billion.

According to Go, the project will be funded by China.

“Sana po matapos ito bago matapos ang termino ni Pangulong Duterte,” he said.

The bridge, stretching from the town of Leganes, Iloilo to the town of Buenavista, Guimaras, is expected to “improve the transportation in the island-province.”

Go was in Guimaras on Sunday to grace the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the P20-million Buenavista Ferry Terminal and the P40-million Buenavista wharf expansion.

“Ako ang magiging tulay ninyo sa Pangulo at the same time sisiguraduhin ko kung ano ang makakabuti para sa Guimaras tulad ngayon mayroong proyekto sa national government,” the former Special Assistant to the President said.
