ILOILO City – A former Sangguniang Kabataan president was appointed by Mayor Jose Espinosa III as executive assistant for youth and sports.

Maria Antoinette Gallos stepped down as SK president of Barangay Ingore, La Paz district before her appointment.

“She is a very active individual. Nami ang iya rapport sa mga kaupod nga mga kabataan kag daw may command,” Espinosa told reporters at city hall on Monday as he announced the appointment.

Gallos’ appointment takes effect this month.

“Nakita naton ang leadership. Kanugon sang iya serbisyo kon indi naton makuha,” the mayor added.

Gallos will be working with Local Youth and Development Office head Jason Gregorio on youth-oriented programs and projects, said Espinosa.

Gallos was one of the contenders for president of the SK Federation of Iloilo City but lost to Leila Luntao of Barangay Our Lady of Lourdes during an election on May 29. The other candidate was Cliff Omisol of Barangay Bantud, La Paz.
