Mayor Jose Espinosa III belittled the results of the third mayoral survey done by Random Access Consultants, Inc. (RACI).
Based on the survey conducted in 60 barangays from Sept. 14 to 16, 2018 among 600 registered voters, Rep. Jerry P. Treñas scored a voter preference rating of 64.5 percent while Espinosa got 28.7 percent.
Only 6.8 percent of the total respondents were undecided.
Espinosa and Treñas both declared to run for mayor of the city next year.
The incumbent mayor said he was not bothered by the results.
“Pila pa ka bulan bag-o mag-eleksyon. Basta ako ayuhon ko lang ang akon pagpangalad bilang alkalde sang syudad,” Espinosa said.
According to him, he is focused on implementing his “Pag-ulikid” program.
“Ako nagapati nga bal-an sang mga pumuluyo ang aton nahimo sa syudad umpisa nga nagpungko kita,” Espinosa said.
Treñas was preferred by most of the respondents in all seven districts.
The survey, which was done through face to face interviews, had a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points at 95 percent confidence level.
RACI used multi-stage probability sampling.
The midterm elections are scheduled on May 13, 2019.
The filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs) is from October 11 to 18 this year.
