THE camp of Iloilo City Mayor Jose “Joe” Espinosa III will file their certificates of candidacy (COCs) for the 2019 elections on Oct 11, 2018.
Donning an orange shirt to represent the Nacionalista Party, the group and their supporters will attend a 6 a.m. mass at San Jose Parish Church and will proceed to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Iloilo City office at the Iloilo Terminal Market.
Former councilor Perla Zulueta, Espinosa’s congressional bet, said not less than 5,000 supporters are expected to join their parade.
“We have already secured a permit for the route. We will walk from the church to the Comelec office,” she said.
Espinosa III introduced his initial lineup during the regular flag ceremony of the City Hall employees on Monday.
Aside from Zulueta, Councilor R Leoni Gerochi will run for vice mayor while the city council slate includes Eduardo “Ed” Peñaredondo, Liezl Joy Zulueta-Salazar, Lyndon Acap, Candice Magdalane Tupas, Mandrei Malabor, and Roldel Fullon-Agado.
Zulueta took her oath as the newest NP member on Oct 8 with Espinosa administering her oath.
She was not able to join the oathtaking in Manila on Oct 3 administered by Sen. Cynthia Villar.
Zulueta said she is also waiting for the signed copy of the certificate of nomination and acceptance (CONA) as NP’s official candidate for congressman.
The last day of the filing of COC will be on Oct 17.
