Gerochi running for vice mayor of Iloilo City

Councilor R. Leone Gerochi has confirmed that  he will run for vice mayor of Iloilo City in the 2019 midterm elections.

He agreed to be the running mate of incumbent Mayor Jose Espinosa III.

Gerochi will face incumbent Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon in the vice mayoral race next year.

On Wednesday, Oct. 3, Gerochi took his oath as the new member of the Nacionalista Party before Senator Chynthia Villar.

He was joined by Councilors Lyndon Acap, Mandrie Malabor, Ed Penaredondo, Liezl Joy Zulueta-Salazar, and Candice Tupas as well as former councilor Rodel Agado.

Last week, former councilor Perla Zulueta announced that she is running for congresswoman of the city.

She is also part of the team of Espinosa who will run against last-termer Congressman Jerry P. Treñas for the mayoral post.

Zulueta’s opponent in the congressional race is former councilor Julienne “Jam-Jam” Baronda.
