Iloilo City emerges as PH’s top Facebook user

The number of Facebook users in Iloilo is the highest among the cities in the Philippines.

Based on Facebook for Business’ Audience Insights tool, the city ranked first with 223.22% (low estimate)  to 334.83% (high estimate) of the population actively using the social media site monthly.

Cebu City took the second spot with 216.78% to 270.97%.

Makati City came in third with 171.64% to 257.55%, followed by Manila City, 224.70% to 252.79%; and Quezon City, 170.29% to 204.35%.

Other cities that have more than 100% Facebook penetration rates are Baguio, Pasay, Davao, Olongapo, Cagayan de Oro, Tacloban, Bacolod, Mandaluyong, Taguig, San Juan, Angeles, Paranaque, Pasig, Las Pinas, General Santos, Cotabato, Valenzuela, Marikina, and Iligan.

Overall, the country currently has 60 million to 70 million monthly active users.

Facebook said the estimates, first published by Rappler, “are based on the placements and targeting criteria you select and include factors such as Facebook user behaviors, user demographics and location data.”

“They aren’t designed to match population or census estimates [of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). Numbers may vary due to performance reasons,” it clarified.

The Audience Insights tool aims to “give marketers an estimate of how to plan their campaigns on Facebook.”
