The Iloilo City Government is seeking a higher budget for 2019.

Councilor Eduardo Peñaredondo, chair of the City Council’s committee on appropriations, said the proposed 2019 budget is P2.319 billion, higher than this year’s budget of P2.212 billion.

According to him, the proposed budget was already submitted by Mayor Jose Espinosa III to his office for perusal.

Nabaton na sya pero maundergo pa ni sa deliberations sa City Council bag-o ma-approve,” Peñaredondo said.

The budget deliberations is expected to start early next month.

The councilor disclosed that 56.2% (P1.303 billion) of the proposed 2019 budget will come from collected taxes; 43.4% (P1.005 billion) from the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) share; and 4% (P10 million) from the city government’s share in the economic zone.

The largest chunk of the proposed budget is alloted for Personal Services (P799 million), followed by Miscellaneous and Other Operating Expenses (P683.10 million), Special Purpose Appropriation (P812.133 million), and Capital Outlay (P24 million).

The Local Economic Enterprise (LEEO) gets P77.172 million, higher compared to this year’s allocation of P75.138 million.
