THE Iloilo City Government has officially opened the sidewalks for vendors who are selling Christmas goods from December 1 until end of the year.
Mayor Jose Espinosa III, along with Public Safety and Management Office head Jeck Conlu and other officials of the City Government, launched the open sidewalk program over the weekend.
“The City Government is giving way to our vendors to sell goods this Christmas season. We want our residents to be given options in buying, that is why we are allowing our vendors to sell as long as they are being regulated,” Espinosa said.
City Hall allows vendors to sell fruits, wrappers, and gifts along Aldeguer, Valeria, and Iznart Streets, City Proper.
Conlu said interested vendors should first secure business permit from the Business Permits and Licensing Office before putting up their kiosks.
“Our Special Services Division and Task Force Asis are checking these kiosks and vendors every day to ensure that they are not obstructing our roads and are not smoking. Wet goods are not allowed to be sold along sidewalks,” Conlu said.
