For the fourth consecutive year, the Iloilo Provincial Government has been chosen as one of the recipients of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).
Provincial Administrator Raul Banias said Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. will receive the recognition during the 2018 SGLG National Awarding Ceremony at Manila Hotel this month.
Aside from the 2018 SGLG marker, the province and other recipients will also be given the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF), which they can use to finance their programs, and access to other programs and assistance from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
“Daku guid ang mabulig sang sining pasidungog sa aton kay makadala ini sang dugang nga mga proyekto sa probinsya,” Defensor said.
According to DILG Provincial Director Teodora Sumagaysay, Iloilo is the only province so far in the country that bagged the SGLG for four straight years.
Iloilo first received the SGLG in 2015.
This year’s recipients of the SGLG passed all seven core areas, which include Financial Administration, Disaster Preparedness, Social Protection, Peace and Order, Business Friendliness and Competitiveness, Environmental Protection, and Tourism Culture and the Arts.
In 2017, the DILG used the “4+1 method”, where local government units (LGUs) need to pass only four core areas and at least one essential area.
