Ilonggo jins dominate inter-school taekwondo tilt

TAEKWONDO jins dominated the 2018 National Inter-school Taekwondo Championships held at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Malate, Manila, Sept. 29-30.
Represented by the Mark V Pinggol (MVP) Taekwondo Gym, the team bagged 21 gold, 14 silver, and 12 bronze medals.
Cyd Edryc Esmaña led Ateneo de Iloilo (AdI) team after winning gold in the Individual Poomsae, silver in advance Kyorugi, and bronze in team Poomsae.
Sophia Grace Go also captured the gold medals in the elementary girls’ Individual Poomsae and Team Poomsae. She also snatched the silver in Kyorugi Cadet.
Samantha Gayle Go got a silver medal in team Poomsae and bronze in Kyorugi.
Sofia Jesse Uy and Julianna Martha Up clinched the gold and silver in individual and team Poomsae, respectively. Clyde Anthony Chua impressed the crowd after winning two gold medals in the Individual and Team Poomsae.
Conrad Joseph Pido received the gold in the Team Poomsae Cadet and bronze in individual Poomsae. Ameila Carla Victoria won the silver in the team Poomsae and bronze in Novice 2 Kyorugi.
Other AdI gold medalists are Geon Ivan Dulaca (Individual and Team Poomsae), Enzo Lucio Cape (Team Poomsae), Josh Carl Macahilig (Novice 2 Kyorugi), Andria Margaret Palabrica (Individual and Team Poomsae), and Christian Pudadera (Kyorugi). Antonio Miguel Nafarrete and Neljane Wentworth Belgira settled for bronze medals in the Team Poomsae and Kyorugi, respectively.
Xyrus Andrei Desierto also made it to the quarterfinals of the Advance Kyorugi.
Assumption Iloilo players also dominated the competition. Roycel Mar Decafe won gold in Individual Poomsae and bronze in Novice 2 Kyorugi.
Roices Dane Decafe got the bronze in Advance Kyorugi Juniors while Roivic John Decafe received the silver in the Advance Kyorugi Cadet. Aiken Emmanuel Avaricio claimed the silver in the Individual Poomsae while Sheine Nicole De Asis took home the silver medal in the Novice 2 Kyorugi.
gold medalists Angela Joy Marie Bermejo (Advance Kyorugi Cadet), Jhed Anthony Morata (Advance Kyorugi Cadet), and Joshua Glenn Grecia (Advance Kyorugi Juniors) led St. Robert’s International Academy (SRIA).

The silver finishers are Katrina Mamaril (Advance Kyorugi Juniors), Geraldine Diana (Advance Kyorugi Juniors); while the lone bronze medalist is Kyna Zurielle Gemarino (Advance Kyorugi Juniors).
The quarterfinalists were Rannie Rose Dedoroy ( Advance Kyorugi Juniors), Jannah Cheska Sonido (Advance Kyorugi Juniors), Red Dyron Lusaya (Novice 2 Kyorugi), Shanen Anica Feranco (Novice Kyorugi), and Ronald Kyle Pico (Advance Kyorugi Juniors).
The University of San Agustin (USA) relied on solid performances by Akimeh Demavivas who won the gold medal in the Novice Kyorugi. Jannah Ysabel Velez and Scarlett Valencia got the bronze in Individual Poomsae.
Miagao Central Elementary School (MCES) Glaiza Far Cordero pocketed the silver in Kyorugi while St. Therese College of Iloilo’s Paul Kenneth Cangcang won the silver in Advance Kyorugi.
Joshua Cachero of St. Catherine Parochial School of Leon, Iloilo made waves in the Individual Poomsae Juniors after settling for a bronze medal finish.
Iloilo National High School (INHS) Senddrick Valencia salvaged the silver in the Advance Kyorugi Cadet while PAREF-Westbridge Andrei Miguel Pido reached the quarterfinals of the elementary Kyorugi.
Denmark Pinggol, Christer John Gersanib, Melcris Villarin, and Diego Garcia mentored the team.
“We prepared a lot for this event while balancing the academic performances of our jins. We are so happy that all sacrifices paid off and we are very thankful to God and to our ever supportive and united proud MVP parents,” Pinggol said.
