Ilonggos mourn death of designer Alex Soncio

Ilonggos expressed their sadness over the death of Alex Gonzales Soncio, a multi-awarded fashion designer.
Soncio died Monday evening, August 20.
He was confined at the intensive care unit (ICU) of St. Paul’s Hospital in Iloilo City for several days before passing away due to complications from pneumonia.

City Mayor Jose Espinosa III also grieved over the loss of Soncio.
“My family and I are one with the Ilonggos who are deeply saddened by the loss of Alex,” he said.
“He was responsible for elevating the beauty competition to new heights, bringing glory not just to the city but to all Ilonggas,” Espinosa added.
Soncio served as executive director of the Miss Iloilo Dinagyang pageant.
He was also involved in other tourism activities in the city.
Last month, Soncio received the prestigious USA (University of San Agustin) Alumni Achievement Award for excellence he showed in Culture and the Arts.
