WITH misty eyes and voice cracking, former Councilor Julienne “Jam-Jam” Baronda declared that “I am home. I am back. I will continue the great projects and will do even more.”
“I was overwhelmed. I felt the love of the people who joined us from Santa Maria Parish Church to the Iloilo Terminal Market. I saw friends from way way back. I met new faces. They were all shouting my name,” she said in explaining why she got emotional in a press conference.
Baronda declared that she is “sealing” what she calls her “contract to serve” with the people of Iloilo City by filing her Certificate of Candidacy for congresswoman. “This is my contract with them. That I will serve them with all my heart, my mind and my soul. That the Jam-Jam Baronda brand of service will once again be experienced by the Ilonggo people.”
Baronda said even if she left and built a family in Davao and would later work in Manila, she continued helping people silently. She facilitated medical assistance and other projects.
Recently, she was instrumental in bringing Sev. JV Ejercito, chairman of the Senate Health Committee, to Western Visayas Medical Center and Wet Visayas State University Medical Center. Ejericto saw the needs of these top hospitals in the region.
Baronda, who is his Chief Political Officer of almost five years, worked hard and facilitated theP600-million fund forWVMC for the Heart, Lung and Kidney Center and P300-million for the WVSUMC Heart, Lung and Cancer Center. These are going to fund phases of the construction of the infrastructure projects. Baronda vows to facilitate more funds so that these are finished.
Baronda and “Team Uswag” led by Cong. Jerry Trenas and Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon,
declared their “One Big Fight” to make Iloilo City greater than ever. Through the help of the 10 councilors under their ticket—Coun. Love Baronda, Jay Treñas, Ely Estante, Armand Parcon, Reyland Hervias, Atty. Rommel Duron, Punong Barangay Jojo Javellana, former Punong Barangay Gibo Garcia, and social worker Allan Zaldivar—they vow to work hard not only to keep the economic boom but make it even better.
Baronda served as an ex-officio member of the city legislature as Sangguniang Kabataan Federation president and as a two-term elected city councilor. She lost the vice mayoralty race by the slimmest margin of only 3,000 votes.
