Classes in a secondary school in the town of Lambunao, Iloilo were suspended on Tuesday, Aug 28, after a suspicious paper bag was found inside a female restroom.
The unattended pink paper bag, which was suspected to contain an improvised explosive device (IED), caused a bomb scare, prompting the school administration to ask students and teachers to vacate the campus.

Authorities immediately responded to the scene.
In an interview with Chief Inspector Joge Suegay of the Lambunao Municipal Police Station (MPS), she said the paper bag, found at around 9:30 this morning, was brought to the guard station.
After a thorough inspection conducted by personnel of the Explosive Ordnance Division of the Police Regional Office (PRO-6), Suegay said it was discovered that the paper bag contained a “fake explosive device.”
“It has no capacity to explode,” she stressed.
“Ang itsura na daw IED. May wires pero waay ti kapasidad maglupok kay waay it blasting cap kag black powder.”
The paper bag was checked by a bomb-sniffing dog and underwent an X-ray scan.

An investigation is underway to determine who left the paper bag in the school.
