Man killed in Dumangas road crash

AN 80-YEAR-OLD man was killed after a Toyota Revo he was driving collided with a Ceres Liner bus at Barangay Balabag, Dumangas, Iloilo, morning of Sept 25, 2018.
Senior Police Officer (SPO) 3 Roger Parcon of Dumangas police identified the victim as Remegio Inventor of Barangay Bulaquena, Estancia.
Inventor was allegedly driving on high speed towards Iloilo City when he crashed into a Ceres Liner bus on the opposite lane.
Bus driver Ramil Basales, 33, of Barotac Viejo said he set the bus on full stop upon seeing the hurrying Toyota Revo.
The accident was recorded on the Ceres Liner bus’ dashboard camera.
Personnel of Dumangas fire and police station, and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) rescuers were unable to immediately retrieve Inventor as his vehicle’s hood was totally wrecked.
He was stuck inside the car for two hours amid serious injuries.
Inventor was brought to Don Jose Monfort Medical Center but was pronounced dead on arrival by Dr. Kim Biňas at around 12:35 p.m.
The victim’s wife, Cerdy Inventor and another companion suffered minor injuries.
Parcon said there was an unsent message on Inventor’s phone stating that he is not feeling well.
“Ang area na da, accident prone area gid na da. Mga ikapila naman ini nga aksidente nga natabo,” Parcon added.
Basales is currently in the custody of the Dumangas police station.
