Pavia Mayor Michael “Mike” Gorriceta is seeking a higher position in the 2019 midterm elections.

Gorriceta filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for congressman of the Second District of Iloilo province on Oct. 11.

He is running under the Nacionalista Party (NP).

Mike is the son of incumbent Second District Representative Arcadio Gorriceta.

According to the second-termer mayor, his father decided to take a rest from politics due to medical reasons.

Once elected, Mike said he would continue what his father started.

“Ara na dira ang paghatag sang medical and burial assistance sa mga pigado. Anglivelihood program, pagkay-o sang roads and pagpahimo sang mga eskwelahan,” Mike said.

“Padayunon ta man ang pagpanami sang Bucari sa Leon nga isa ka tourist destination sa Second District,” he added.

Mike said Sangguniang Bayan (SB) member Luigi Gorriceta, his cousin, and SB member Edsel Gerochi will run for mayor and vice mayor of Pavia, respectively.

The midterm elections are set on May 13 next year.
