THE top official of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) in the region revealed that local government units (LGUs) are the subjects of the most number of complaints and recommendations in the 8888 citizens’ complaint hotline in Western Visayas.

According to CSC regional director Rodolfo Encajonado, within the period of January to September 2018, LGUs were the subjects of 31 complaints, followed by the Land Transportation Office with 25 complaints.

Third on the list is the Bureau of Internal Revenue with 15 complaints while PAG-IBIG and Social Security System have 12 complaints each.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Statistics Authority received 11 complaints.

Encajonado said that most of the complaints directed to the agencies are about delayed transactions.

“Complaints are mostly delayed action on their transactions and yung iba discourtesy,” he stated.

The complaints received by the CSC are forwarded to the concerned agencies for proper action according to Encajonado.

“On our part wala kaming direct action except sa directly na nire-report sa aminParang traffic kami dito kase ang na-receive namin na complaint galing sa 8888 we forward it and inform the agency head to act on it,” he noted.

On August 1, 2016, President Rodrigo Duterte launched the 8888 Citizens’ Complaint Center to serve as a mechanism for citizens to voice out their concerns or complaints of the citizens against government officials and agencies.

The complaint center is mandated to operate 24 hours a day from a day from Monday to Sunday.

Supervised by the Office of the Cabinet Secretary (OCS) in coordination with the Office of the Special Assistant to the President (OSAP) and the CSC, the 8888 hotline receives an average of 232 calls a day.
