Motorcycle-truck collision kills two

ROXAS City – Two persons were killed in a crash on the national highway in Barangay Manhoy, Dao, Capiz, a police report showed.

Motorcycle driver Ariel Pelobello, 42, of Janiuay, Iloilo and his 25-year-old back rider Nerissa Atayde of Barangay Libas, Roxas City were pronounced “dead on arrival” at the Sen. Gerardo Roxas Memorial District Hospital in Dao.

The Kawasaki Barako motorcycle that Pelobello and Atayde were riding crashed against a Fuso Canter truck driven by the 35-year-old Barangay Quinayuya, Dao resident Eugene Manong around 1:45 p.m. on Monday, the report stated.

Manong surrendered to the police after the incident.

According to police investigation, the Roxas City-bound motorcycle bumped into the truck that running in opposite direction.

Manong said he tried to avoid the motorcycle but failed.

Police said the truck overran Pelobello and Atayde’s heads.

Manong was detained in the lockup cell of the Dao municipal police station.

He will face charges for reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide, police said.
