MVP jins dominate taekwondo league

TAEKWONDO jins of Mark V. Pinggol (MVP) Iloilo displayed the sharp form expected by many as they ruled the second leg of the Philippine Taekwondo League (PTL) at Robinson’s Mall Roxas City, Capiz on Aug. 19, 2018.
Trained by head coach Denmark Pinggol, the team was led by Raphael Lloyd Pico, Ronald Pico, Joshua Cachero, Joshua Grecia, Senddrick Valencia, and Jhed Morata.
“PTL is a Philippine Taekwondo League composed of 10 players. Actually ika-second na ni nga meet. Ang first meet was during the Regional Inter-school sa Antique last July 7 sa diin nag daog man kami against Antique team,” Pinggol added.
In the second leg, the team defeated Aklan after scoring 95 points in the competition.
“Each team is required to fill in players in five categories. There is a one on one fight where players with the same weight category will be fighting for two mins up to the last weight category. It will be followed by a five-minute tag team match or rumble match. After this, all scores will be totalled,” explained Pinggol.
Represented by St. Robert’s International Academy (SRIA) Panda Rockets, the MVP jins posted two wins ahead of Filamer Christian University with two wins also.
Sacred Heart Academy (Zarraga) and Antique National High School (ANHS) recorded one win and one loss each while Regional Science High School of Aklan and Central Philippine University (CPU) got two defeats each.
The tournament which was participated in by various taekwondo clubs in the region aims to showcase skills of taekwondo jins in Kyorugi. The third leg of PTL will be held in Iloilo City on Sept. 9.
