Iloilo City Councilor Plaridel Nava wants the Local Youth and Development Office (LYDO) and City Legal Office (CLO) to receive no budget next year.

In an interview on Tuesday, Nava, the Sangguniang Panlungsod’s (SP) appropriations committee chair, said the two offices deserve zero budget.

The councilor has yet to submit the committee report on the proposed 2019 Executive Budget amounting to P2.319 billion.

According to Nava, LYDO, headed by Jason Gregorio, overlapped with the functions of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation in the city.

Gina-overlap ya ang obra sang SK. Daw wala sila garespeto kay [SK Federation president and ex-officio SP member Leila Luntao],” he said.

Ang aton move magahatag sang message nga dapat man nila respituhon kag kilalahon siLuntao as SK Federation president,” he added.

On the other hand, Nava decried the performance of CLO headed by Atty. Rulido Dela Cruz.

Ang tanan nga kaso sang siyudad pirde wala kita sang success rate dira,” he said.

Waay gani sila ga-submit position paper on the franchise application of Prime Water,” he added.

Prime Water Infrastructure Corp. applied for a 25-year franchise to “construct, establish, commission, operate, and maintain a water supply system [in the metropolis].”

Nava is also considering giving zero budget to two other “inefficient” offices.

Kon mag-improve sila kag magnami na ila performance hatagan ta sila funds, They can always request for a supplemental budget,” he said.

The SP is set to deliberate on the proposed 2019 budget on Dec. 11, 2018.
