Fuel subsidy cards intended for operators and drivers of public utility jeepneys (PUJs) in Iloilo are not yet available, according to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB-6).
LTFRB-6 Director Richard Osmeña on Monday said they are still waiting for the cash cards to be distributed to about 6,000 “legitimate” PUJ operators and drivers in the province and city of Iloilo.
The distribution of fuel subsidy is under the LTFRB’s Pantawid Pasada Program. It aims to help the drivers cope with the effects of the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) law.
Each card contains P5,000. The amount is “only for fuel purchases.”
Osmeña said they would inform the drivers once the cash cards become available.
“The cards will be distributed by the different branches of the Land Bank of the Philippines.”
Only 220 cards have so far been distributed in the region, Osmeña revealed.
“These were received by our drivers in the province of Guimaras,” he said.
In the whole region, there are about 11,000 PUJ operators and drivers.
“We have a list here. It will be used as basis in releasing the cards,” Osmeña said.
