Passengers told: Leave for Iloilo airport early

Airline passengers traveling out of Iloilo were advised to allocate ample travel time to get to the airport in the town of Cabatuan.

“The inspection is part of the intensified security measures being implemented here to ensure the safety of everyone,” said Art Parreño, terminal supervisor.

According to him, the Iloilo International Airport and other airports in Westeen Visayas have been placed on full alert status.

The Office for Transportation Security (OTS) of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) raised security Condition 2 (Secco 2) at airports in the region following the the suicide bombing that killed 11 people in Lamitan City, Basilan province, on August 1.

“Secco 2 remains in place dito sa airport. Wala pang order para i-lift ito,” Parreño said.

To avoid missing their flights, Parreño told passengers to leave for the airport as early as they could.
