THE Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) said that they have already started the preparations for the All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days in Iloilo City.
Supt. Jonathan Pablito, chief of police of the Iloilo City Police Station 1, said that they have already been briefed as early as last week to start the traffic preparations for the twin religious events collectively called undas.
“As early as last week the station commanders have already briefed the city directors on the preparations for the undas. Aside from traffic, we are also preparing for the security at the cemeteries,” Pablito said.
According to Pablito, they are consolidating the different government agencies and other volunteers to prepare for the undas.
“Other government agencies will be helping us and ating auxiliaries will be assisting. Kami mag-iikot din kami ni city director to ensure na orderly ang gagawin nating pagbantay sa undas and ang ating mga transport volunteers, sila naman ang titingin sa mga kalsada especially yung mga papunta or palabas ng sementeryo,” he stated.
The chief also warned the public to take precautionary measures and be respectful when visiting their departed loved ones in the cemeteries.
“We would like to remind our citizens na ang pagdala ng kutsilyo or ibang deadly weapons at inumin. Wala namang provision na nagbabawal sa back pack pero we will be checking pa rin especially yung may mga bladed weapons and yung mga magdadala ng loud music, please be sensitive,” he noted.
Pablito urged everyone to cooperate in order to assure a peaceful celebration of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days in Iloilo City.
“We ask everyone to cooperate. Maraming mag-aaway sa parking so sana kalmado lang tayo.
If possible, go early and go home early as well. This is an effort together with our police, government agencies, volunteers, and citizens,” he stated.
