THE Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO-6) assured that municipal police stations, particularly those exposed to rebel attacks, are prepared for any untoward incident.

In a media interview Monday, Supt. Joem Malong, PRO-6 spokesperson, confirmed that Chief Supt. John Bulalacao, Regional Director of PRO-6, personally inspected police stations in the towns of Igbras, Tubungan, Alimodian and Leon over the weekend.

“He (Bulalacao) wanted to see to it that our personnel are ready,” Malong said.

According to Malong, retaliation is possible after the recent incident in San Jose, Antique where seven New People’s Army (NPA) members were killed in a clash with government troops.

“That is why we are really (beefing up) the security operations in the different areas, especially those vulnerable to attacks,” she said.

Bulalacao reminded police personnel to be “ready anytime”.

“They should memorize their defense plan. In case of any emergency or atrocity, they should be ready to respond and aside from that, they should have the will to fight,” she said.

In addition to the four police stations visited by Bulalacao, other high-risk police stations are in the towns of Bingawan, Calinog, Guimbal, Janiuay, Lambunao, Lemery, Maasin, Miag-ao, San Rafael, San Joaquin and Tigbauan.

The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) earlier said there are 15 municipal police stations that are considered high risk of rebel attacks.
