Pro-federalism group files COCs in Iloilo City

ELECTORAL bets under Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS) filed their certificates of candidacy (COC) at the Commission on Election (Comelec) Iloilo City office in Iloilo Terminal Market on Oct 16, 2018.
The group headed by Dr. Lucio Encio, who is also vying for the city’s lone congressional seat, said that they are pushing for federalism under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.
“Nagapati kami sa panindugan ni President Duterte to stop corruption, stop illegal drugs, stop terrorism, and yes to federalism,” said Encio.
He also denied that their group is an underdog compared to other groups.
“May established nga organization kami and we have the support from the barangays.
Kinahanglan nga bag-o nga linyada sang kandidato nga magpungko sa gobyerno para sa pagbag-o,” he stated.
Esteban Abitang will run for mayor in tandem with Constancio Caro Jr. for vice mayor.
Also in the PDDS slate are Aillen Equico, Rachel Sampiano, Mary Irish Melgar, Jovito Guilaran Jr., Jocelyn Jover, Wenceslao Sollano, Lorenzo Castillano, Danilo Fuentes, Teofilo Aldea, Nenita Demontano, Shirley Jalbuena, and Oscar Diopeta who will run for councilors.
The camp of incumbent Mayor Jose Espinosa III also filed their COCs under the Nacionalista Party on the first day of filing last Oct 11.
The mayor was joined by Perla Zulueta who will run for the congressional seat, council R Leone Gerochi for vice mayor, and five incumbent councilors – Eduardo Peñaredondo, Lyndon Acap, Mandrei Malabor, Candice Magdalane Tupas, Liezl Zulueta Salazar – and former councilor Rodel Agado who seeking city council seats.
