SEVERE WEATHER BULLETIN #9FOR: TYPHOON "ROSITA" (YUTU)

TROPICAL CYCLONE: WARNING ISSUED AT 5:00 PM, 29 October 2018

TYPHOON "ROSITA" MAINTAINS ITS THREAT OVER SOUTHERN ISABELA - NORTHERN AURORA AREA AS IT CONTINUES TO MOVE CLOSER.

• Stormy Weather over the areas under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS) No. 3 & 2. Travel by land is risky over these areas.

• Moderate to heavy rains directly associated with the Typhoon is expected over Northern and Central Luzon starting tonight (29 Oct) Residents in these areas, especially those living near river channels, in low-lying areas and mountainous areas, are advised to take appropriate actions against possible flooding and landslides, coordinate with the local disaster risk reduction and management offices.

• Storm surge of up to 3 meters is possible over the coastal areas of Isabela, Cagayan, Aurora, Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte and La Union.

• Fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the seaboards of areas with TCWS and Eastern and Western seaboards of Southern Luzon, Eastern seaboards of Visayas, and of Mindanao.

• Expected to make landfall over Southern Isabela - Northern Aurora area by Tomorrow morning (5am to 7am) (30 Oct) and traverse Aurora, Isabela, Quirino, Ifugao,. Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet and La Union.

• Possible exit landmass by tomorrow afternoon and will exit PAR by Wednesday evening (31 Oct.)

Location of eye/center: At 4:00 PM today, the eye of Typhoon "ROSITA" was located based on all available data at 310 km East Northeast of Casiguran, Aurora(16.8°N, 125.0°E). Strength: Maximum sustained winds of up to 150 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 185 km/h.

Movement: Moving West at 15 km/h.

• 96 Hour(Friday afternoon):590 km West Northwest of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte (OUTSIDE PAR)(20.6°N, 115.6°E)

• 120 Hour(Saturday afternoon):655 km West Northwest of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte (OUTSIDE PAR)(21.3°N, 115.3°E)

Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Ilocos Sur, Mt. Province, La Union, Benguet, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Northern Quezon including Polillo Island, Southern Aurora, Zambales, Pampanga and Bulacan.

TCWS#1 (30-60 km/h Expected in 36 hours)

Southern Quezon, Batanes and Babuyan group of Islands, Rizal, Metro Manila, Laguna, Batangas, Bataan, Cavite, and Camarines Norte.

The public and the disaster risk reduction and management council concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next Severe Weather Bulletin to be issued at 8 PM today.
