Toto, Beng file certificates of candidacy

Congressman Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr. on Tuesday filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for governor of the province of Iloilo.

Defensor is running under the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP–Laban), the political party of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Toto is the son of incumbent Governor Arthur Defensor Sr., who is now serving his third and last term.

Barotac Viejo Mayor Niel “Beng” Tupas III, Toto’s vice gubernatorial running mate, also filed his COC.

Their opponents, Congressman Ferjenel Biron and incumbent Vice Governor Christine “Tingting” Garin filed their COCs for the gubernatorial and re-election, respectively, on October 11.

Biron and Garin are running under the Nacionalista Party.

Aside from Defensor and Biron, there are three other gubernatorial wannabes.They are Jonry Gargarita (Pototan), Vicente Antaya (Balasan), and Esperidion Javier (Pototan).
