Fifth District Representative Raul “Boboy” Tupas is running for re-election under the Nacionalista Party (NP) in the 2019 polls.

The first-termer congressman will face his brother, Niel “Junjun” Tupas Jr., in the fifth congressional district race.

Boboy filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) yesterday.

He said he wanted to “push the growth” of the Fifth District harder in the next three years with a long list of projects that are expected to boost tourism and economic opportunities.

According to him, his district “is marking its place on the map for tourism and industrialization.”

“We have arrived, and our objective now is to sustain that momentum and even accelerate more,” Boboy said.

The congressman filed his COC along with his candidates for Fifth District board member, Nielito “Dr. Darling” Tupas and Ajuy SB member Atty. Carol-V Espinosa.

Junjun, a Liberal Party (LP) member, also filed his COC yesterday.

Mapadalagan ako syempre para may dangpan ang mga pumuluyo. Nakita naman nila ang deperensya,” he said in an interview over radio station DYRI RMN-Iloilo.

Junjun served as congressman of the Fifth District for three consecutive terms.

His wife, Yvone Angeli, ran for congresswoman in 2016 but lost to Boboy.
