Village councilor dies while attending meeting

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A barangay kagawad (village councilor) in a coastal area here died of heart attack while attending a meeting at the Roxas City session hall Monday afternoon.

Sonny Llamas suddenly fell unconscious on his seat while in the middle of a committee hearing on the creation of a bay watch at Baybay village here.

Sangguniang Panlungsod(SP) member Cesar Yap Jr., one of the participants i the meeting, tried to revived Llamas.

The kagawad was brought to St. Anthony College Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Yap, a doctor in profession, said Llamas has been actively participating in the deliberations on the proposed bay watch at Baybay where he served as kagawad.

City department heads, stakeholders, and other concerned individuals attended the ad hoc committee hearing in the pursuit of making the beach area of Baybay and nearby coastal areas safe for swimming.

Llamas served as village chief of Baybay before he was elected kagawad.

Incumbent Baybay barangay captain Rey Magallanes said Llamas is a big to their village.
