PUBLIC Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) head Jeck Conlu is pushing the construction or designation of freedom walls in Iloilo City to discourage vandalism mostly perpetrated by the youth.
“Gina-propose ko nga mag-butang kita mga freedom walls either sa plaza or Esplanade. Kay indi man naton sila mabantayan pirme, at least may specific area na sila kung may freedom wall,” Conlu said.
According to Conlu, the freedom walls will serve as a venue for the youth to express their creativity.
“Every three months panason naman naton para at the same sila man mismo maka-express man sang ila nga art,” he added.
Conlu added that the PSTMO, in cooperation with the PNP, would be launching “Ilonggo Kontra Bandalismo,” a campaign against vandalism, on Nov 17, 2018.
“We will be inviting different sectors especially the youth and after that we will be going around the city to repaint walls and areas with vandals,” he said.
Based on the “Anti-Vandalism Act of 2009”, vandalism refers the act of writing, drawing, painting, marking or inscribing on any public property or private property any word, slogan, caricature, drawing, mark, symbol or other thing; affixing, posting up or displaying on any public property or private property any advertisement, bill or notice, without authority or the consent of the owner or occupant.
