The construction of a “world-class” ferry terminal and wharf in the town of Buenavista, Guimaras is expected to start in January next year.

The project, which costs some P60 million, is funded by the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

Mayor Eugenio Reyes said the DOTr allotted P40 million for the expansion of the Buenavista wharf, and P20 million for the new ferry terminal.

Early this month, a groundbreaking ceremony for the project was held. It was attended by DOTr Undersecretary Fernando Juan Perez, DOTr Assistant Secretary for Maritime Lino Dabi, and Governor Samuel Gumarin, among others.

Ang target ta is January 2019 mastart ang construction. Kon matapos na sya, I am expecting nga maka-attract sya sang damu paguid nga turista diri sa Guimaras,” Reyes said.
